Chinook salmon (kings) - May, June, July
From late may till the closure of the season on July 31, we fish this world-renowned glacier fed Kenai river and the nearby Kasilof River for Chinook salmon. Known as “kings” for obvious reasons to anyone fortunate to have battled one, “kings’ will average 20-50 lbs with many taken yearly that far surpass this. The current all world record of 97.4 lbs was taken here by my good friend, Mr. Les Anderson on May 17, 1985. These Chinook will return annually to spawn in two overlapping runs, providing the absolute best “king” fishing in the world.
